Transmission thump

2003 Vauxhall Vectra 2.2 elegance auto
Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 2003
Variant: 2.2 elegance auto
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
When slowing down through around 18 mph there is a thump as if brakes applied for split second in auto & semi auto. Seems to be in or going into 2nd gear, & clears up after about 10 minutes running from cold.

it might be worth changing the auto fluid as old dirty fluid will have some effect
