2004 Vauxhall Vectra dronning / roadsurface noise

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.8 LS
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I purchased a Vauxhall Vectra four months ago and it has developed a dronning noise, particularly when you are slowing down but can also be heard whilst travelling. I have had a rear offside wheel bearing changed but the problem still persists. The garage have suggested that this may be being caused by the tyres. Can this be right or may I have another problem?

tyres are a strong contender they can distort slightly we tend to swap wheels with another car but you need a garage that has doner vehicles.
is noise from front or rear you could tyr swapping wheels front to rear.other poss is the other wheel bearings

You can get tyre noise , but droning noise , increasing with speed is usually wheel bearing .Might be one of the other three wheels . If not happy , get second opinion from another garage . A short roadtest should be all thats needed to diagnose and can usually be confirmed by running / checking on a jack .

Just seen "mr suzuki " post . As he suggests , if you can try another set of tyres from a donor vehicle for a road test , will eliminate that .

Thanks for the replies - really useful. Having spoken to the garage he is adamaent that the tyres are the problem, but why didnt I have the problem when I first purchased several months ago, The car was as quite as a mouse.

at a guess they have probably worn unevenly on inner edges.

Really frustrated now. Have had two wheel bearing replaced and tyres checked but I still have this infuriating noise - especially when slowing down. Sounds like it is coming from the front of the car. Any Suggestions apart from getting rid. Thanks
