2006 Vauxhall Vectra tranmission/ automatic

When selecting drive the vehicle doesnt always engage the gears. When it does it will only drive a few metres then disengage the gears. Ive disconnected the bty to see if it was an elcetrical fault but its made no difference.

coolant is mixing with the auto fluid the engine coolant cools the box the seals have failed mixing the fluids and ruining the box sorry but its a new box due to this contamination it was a service recall recently where the seals where replaced to prevent this from happing but yours is toolate for this and box is the only answer hopefully youve got all your service stamps and can get GM to contribute to the repair

as suggested, check the condition of the gearbox oil,if contaminated get onto vauxhall and see what they can do.might be worth checking the selector cable adjustment as well

we had a new gear box/transmission system last april due to gears not changing. this was stil while under warrenty thank god. would a new seal have be fitted then? shouldnt this have stopped the current problem occuring if it is the fluid problem and could we query this so we dont have to pay anything this time.

we have just had a service (3 weeks ago) shudnt this have been picked up then?

would you be able to notice the water coolant levels going down?

thanx for your help
