2005 Vauxhall Vectra spanner light

Hi there folks, First time poster here. (here goes)



I bought a 55 plate Estate 1.9CDTI SRI last summer and have had problems with the Engine Managment Light since about the 4th week. (bought private so no come back)



Cleaned the EGR valve and things seemed to be ok for a while then the light came back on and in to limp home mode again.



So after looking at this forum and others I decided to change the MAF & the EGR valve.

This looked to have fixed the spanner light problem then it became apparent that there was no boost (the wife drives this car so boost means nothing to her) so I then found a burst Vac pipe to the turbo, I then taped it up for a start and the car was driving like a dream for about 1 day.



Then you guessed it the bloody Spanner light came back on and in to limp home mode after about 5 miles / once the car is up to temperature.



So I went and bought a CAN OBD2 / EOBD Code reader, costs about the same a single visit to a garage to get hooked on to the diagnostic machine.



But.........there are no codes stored in the system



I have tried driving the car waiting for the limp home to kick in, when it comes on I have kept it running with the Spanner light on while the machine does it's stuff but STILL there is no codes coming up.



Yet when I choose to clear codes it puts the spanner out and the car drives great again.



Please help before I loose the plot 100%

P.S

It has also had a new timing belt due to the fan belt breaking and getting tangled up in the timing belt. Not sure if this could have done any other damage.
