1996 Vauxhall Vectra overheating

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 1996
Variant: 1.6 gli auto
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have checked and replaced clamps but the car keeps overheating.previously it used about a cup of water on 70 km but now it is a litre.it is not in the oil and i cannot see it losing it.the auto box also cools down its oil through the radiator, can there be a leak here.when it stands still and idle it doesnt lose water but when you drive it loses it.can it be a air lock as i previously read from another guy.please help me with some advice.

have the garage check that the head gasket isnt on its way as losing water like you are doing i would say head gasket but have it checked just for piece of mind

but there are no water in the oil and i do not get a lot of moisture through the exhaust so where can the water go then.

how can they check just the gasket without taking the motor apart

If you get a pressure test on cooling system , this should show any external leaks . A sniff test ( block test ) wiil tell if head gasket leaking .
