1997 Vauxhall Vectra power loss, juddering idle and burning smell....

Hello there,

I don't know if you can help but, I have several probs with my Car ie:

Idle is juddery, lack of Acceloration and Burning smell from near side in engine compartment.

I have a K&N Air Filter on it, which I recently cleaned to try to solve power prob, but no joy.

Tried to take it to Garage but, they were very busy, so bought it home again.

The Idle is weird because I never used to feel it much but, now it seems to judder and is quicker.

I thought it might be something to do with auto choke, but I'm no expert and hope fully the burning smell isn't the Clutch..!!

So some advice would be helpful.

Could be you have a couple of faults i.e clutch slip and misfire .Think your idea of going to garage for checking , best plan .Especially with any burning smell in case not clutch slip causing this .

if your car is" hunting " for the idles and the needle is bobbing up and down it could be your idle control valve needs cleaned . only some models have these . wont cost anymore than 30 pounds to fix
