2002 Vauxhall Vectra immobilliser problem

I have just removed my battery and the immoilliser alarm has now been going off for over two hours. Does anyone know how long it will continue to go off? thanks.

you need to turn the ignition to position 2 and then disconnect the battery to prevent the alarm going off
