About 18 months ago a second hand part was used for the power steering. The amber warning light has been on since then.I have been told that it is because the coding does not match up, ie has to be done by Opel.Steering absolutely fine. Any help please.

Check fluid level . Could be a faulty sensor or try resetting the light with Tech 3 If electro hydraulic power assisted steering on your car , test battery condition and alternator output under load .

Thanks for the reply but have only just found some time to check things, although not sure what Tech3 is, only know it as a connection with motor racing!

It’s diagnostic kit used to read fault codes and monitor values from the vehicle ,unless you have a mate that’s a mechanic ,that may have diagnostic equipment,Best getting it to a Vauxhall garage that know the product and have the correct kit to fix it,As alternator issues can cause steering issues and lights on dash,But diagnostic is essential and advised.

Thanks for the reply. I was kind of hoping that going to a dealer etc was not the way forward. It seems today that faulty sensors are at least as big a problem than the parts they are supposed to protect. Thanks again for your help.
