2002 Vauxhall Vectra battery light

THE BATTERY CAME ON, AND THE BATTERY WENT FLAT. AS IT WAS OLD A BOUGHT A NEW ONE AND FITTED A NEW ALTERNATOR AT THE SAME TIME, NOW THE BATTERY IS FINE AND CHARGES, BUT THE LIGHT STAYS ON PLUS THE SPANNER SIGN KEEP COMING ON. I CANT FIND OUT HOW TO TURN IT OFF. ANY IDEAS PLEASE.

The light is indicating a fault .Unless you get it scanned for fault codes and faults rectified the light will stay on .
