Whirring Ignition, not starting

2006 Vauxhall Vectra 2.2 direct petrol
Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 2006
Variant: 2.2 direct petrol
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi, i'm new on here but i'm desperate for an answer.

Used car on friday morning and everything was fine, went to use the car again that evening to find would not start.

All lights on the dash are working as they should, the only symptom is a whirring noise when the ignition is turned. Had a new drive chain about 6 weeks ago (tensioner not replaced), fitted by ats, however 2 weeks later the MAF popped off where it had not been reattached properly, engine cut out and everything failed, however on re-attaching this myself, car ran fine.

I have also had an on/off problem with the rear nearside indicator failing mid journey and then sorting itself out a few days later.

Any ideas welcome, i have added as much as i can in the hope it points to something.

Cheers
Tim

First though is the timing has jumped,
it really is false economy to fit a chain and not the tensioner.
So get the cam timing checked.
