Opel vectra: Poor idling at low gears with car spanner light pamennently on.

Though runs smoothly at higher gears, my car jerks and does not idle well at low gears (1-2). As a result it wont start smoothly. The main engine block is vibrating as well. I have checked the fuel filter and ploughs are ok. Fuel consumption seem to have increased. I wonder what can be the problem. can anyone be of help?

Could be a plug lead breaking down causing misfire .(Assuming that year does not have a coil pack )

Or you could get it scanned seeing engine fault light on .
