2001 Vauxhall Vectra car has 1/10 of its normal acceleration/ a real lack of power !

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.8 LS
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My engine management light came on and my car lost a lot of power. I have so far taken it to two garages and diagnostics read to change the coil pack, which both garages did but I still have the same problem. I've had a new fuel filter and had the air pressure tested. I've replaced the plugs and injectors but all to no avail. The car is running on 3. It sounds terrible, like it's the head gasket but it's not, that's fine.I can't even attempt to drive the car up a hill ! This problem is driving me crazy....!!!!!! All suggestions appreciated.

Checked the cyl compressions ?

Thank you for your response. I will certainly get my mechanic to check the cylinder compressions (if he hasn't already done so) . Is there anything else that could be checked? It has been suggested that I try and have somebody check the electrics as, being that it is a relatively old car, i noticed a few frayed wires under the bonnet.

If you have a cyl low on compression , all the parts fitted will have been a waste of time and money .I take it " the air pressure tested " was really the fuel pressure ? Have they ever checked / replaced the timing belt which may be worn , stretched or jumped ?
