2004 Vauxhall Vectra hard to start during night & fault code p0234

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 2004
Variant: 2.0 dti
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi,
If the car has been standing for a couple of hours or more during the night it's a pain to start. It will eventually go but is close to draining the battery each time. Glow plugs, relay and coolant temp' sensor checked and are fine so I think it might be fuel related. It starts ok during the day when it's warmer.
Also car is sluggish and spanner light comes on after a while. Limp home mode as usual until restarting. Fault cod is p0234 turbo charger overboost condition.
Any help with either would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Came across this which might help you ,

Turbo over-boost condition detected. Fault; wastegate not closing [enough]. Possibles:-

Wastegate itself [clogged; seized]. Hose; wastegate to control solenoid. Control solenoid itself [or it's filter blocked?]. Wiring of solenoid; from relay and to ECU. Hose; solenoid to t-piece. T-piece. Hose; T-piece to vac pump. Vac pump; services half - internal damage; low vac. [Common if oil was ever low.]

and this,

Okay after a lot of head scratching and swearing I found the problem, or should I say problems. Firstly the thin plastic pipe from the throttle housing had chaffed and the hole was the size of a pin head. Replacing that cured the problem for about 5 minutes and the spanner light re-appeared. Anyways after ruling out various sensors I decided to unplug the EGR valve and plug it back in sure enough the light went out. Armed with brake cleaner I removed the EGR valve and soaked the ****** and put it back together. Guess what no more spanner lights and the thing goes like a rocket again. It must have sucked some grit in there causing the valve to stick anyways all is well now.

Hope this helps you with the problem .

Hi,
Thanks for the advice,I've changed the fuel spill pipes and that's fixed it. I could tell straight away as there was no fuel present in the old pipes when removed. Had a laugh, phoned the local vauxhall main dealers and got quoted nearly 40 quid for pipe and 3 connectors !! went to the nearest motor shop and paid just over a tenner, thanks again.

Have fixed other problem, it was a split vac pipe connector on wastegate actuator by turbo. Turbo working fine now.

Good to hear you got it fixed and without having pay through the nose at the dealers, thanks for update .
