2002 Vauxhall Vectra rapid flashing of indicator light (fds)

Hi, after receiving an in-car warning that FDS indicator needed attention I purchased new bulb 21W 12V and replaced the existing one. The indicator worked normally for about 5 flashes and then went high speed flashing. I have checked all the other bulbs and they are as they should be all 21W 12V. I have 'tweaked the bulb carrier contacts' and the indicator worked as it should do for 8 flashes. Any ideas would be welcome Thank you in advance. Happy bank holiday

May sound obvious but have you checked the earth connections, also check the bulb holder to make sure there s nothing metallic floating about which could cause a short.
