2006 Vauxhall Vectra wet foot well and running cold

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.9cdti automatic
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Hi I also have a wet foot well as described in earlier problems but my heater works.

However the engine is running really cold I.e. after an hour of town running I could still put my hand on it. There is no register of temperature on the gauge.

Is it likely to be the thermostat or something else.

I be very grateful for any help. Cheers

If the thermostat is stuck open the engine will run cool and heater wont be as efficient as it should .

l had the same prob with my vectra and it was the thermostat gone best way to check is run for a 5 mins and feel the big hose from the stat if its warm the stat has gone quite easy to change cost about £50 for the stat with the footwell l asume that it is the passenger side common vectra fault lift up the flap on the deflector on the passenger side and check the drain under the pollen filter probably blocked with leaves and rubbish easy to clear the drain with some strong wire or simmilar get that stat cheched asap as you will get massive carbon build up in the egr and condensation in the oil from cold running GOOD LUCK

Forgot about water in foot well , as suggested above , usually choked bulkhead drains .

Hi I have checked the drains in the front by running a hose down the windscreen and the water drains straight onto the road. Is this in addition to this?

All hoses are cold to touch so can I assume its not the stat? I've checked oil and its very dirty, but maybe not surprising because it was last changed last February,
.

Thanks for your prompt reply

If your hoses are cold, not normal .Check coolant level and if o.k , thermostat .Also check if water is rain water or coolant as if the latter , could be heater matrix/ core that is leaking inside the car .If not that , check the water is not entering through the pollen filter .
