2003 Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 LS Washer pump not pumping

Fixes: 2
Problem added: Jan 18, 2009 (11 years ago)
Hi There. My OH has a Vectra C and the windscreen washers have stopped working. The pump runs but nothing comes out. Even if I pop the hose off nothing comes out of the pump. I have tried flushing the washer bottle as my OH had used washing up liquid (I told her not to)as we had run out of screen wash and the problem has been there since. Unfortunately I only have a driveway to work on and the weather is awfull. I think I need to drop the washer bottle out to investigate further. Any help would be most appreciated.

Turn the steering to full left lock, remove three screws on the nearside inner wing, pull the inner wing back. Remove the pump from the washer reservoir, there should be a rubber insert with a filter in the reservoir (or it may be attached to the pump when you remove it) clean the filter, whilst the pump is out of the reservoir, flush it out with warm water.
You can access the pump from underneath if you have access to a pit or a ramp, but it's easier to remove the wing panel if you are working on the driveway. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info phil5555. I managed to drop the washer pump out and check it was running and not blocked. I found that even with the pump removed from the washer bottle it was watertight. There was something blocking the apature that the pump sits in. I managed to free the blockage and water would then run freely out of the apature. The pump is now back in situ and working fine.

Once again many thanks for your advice.
