When im driving during the day my headlights are flashing on and off and the headlight indicator on the dash is also flashing, this is going on whilst ma headlights are switched off, one of the relays behind the glove compartment is clicking like crazy and the lights behind the stereo n dashboard are flashing too, I've recently changed the alternator and timing belt and this problem has arisen since then, I know of another vectra with the same problem which has just changed the alternator and timing belt, please help

Sure it's not a faulty / worn light stalk ? If not check all earths , especially from engine to body and if any at alternator .Could also try changing relay if not that .

No its not the light stalk as the stereo and window demisters are switching on and off in sync with the flashing lights, strange that 2 vectras that I know of have the same problem after changing timing belt and alternator

Its currently back in the dealership that done the work, straight away wanting £65 just to look at it, I think not as the work was under warranty

Ok problem solved, the alternator was overcharging causing the electrics to overload, they put it down to the tension of a new timing belt, so new alternator on it under warranty n a huge sigh of relief to me, thanks for your help guys

Thanks for update , though the belt tension would not cause over charging , that is rubbish .Faulty alternator has been your problem , but at least it's fixed under warranty .

Yeah I think the last alternator they put on was one they had lying around the workshop
