1998 Vauxhall Vectra alternator not charging

My battery went flat i jump it with leads and when the engine was running the voltage was 12.5 and when i turned the engine off it was still 12.5,so i change the alternator with a recon one and the problem was still the same.all wires are tight and clean the battery is a month old.any ideas

Check all earths , especially from engine/gearbox to body .Some Vectras had a relay .

as above but check there is a permanent batt voltage supply to alternator and check all fuses are ok including the fuseable links in fuse box also make sure alternator is earthed to engine ok some had a seperate earth lead
