Bent con rod

2007 Vauxhall Vectra SRi 150 diesel
Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 2007
Variant: SRi 150 diesel
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
whilst driving home from work some weeks ago i approached a speed hump close to my house slowed down and as i went over the hump the car cut out. i tried to start it but it would not turn over but after several attempts it finally started so i drove the remaining 400-500 yards to my home, upon arriving home i opened the car door with the enine runnin and could hear a clatering noise. i immmediately switched the car off.
the car was towed into vauxhalls and some 3-4 weeks later they finally informed me that the con rod was bent as a result of water ingress into the cylinder, however the workhp manager has informed me that there is no evidence of water ingress and that the ijector could have over fuelled to cause a hydraulic lock thus bending the con rod. vauxhalls are refusing to repair under the existing warranty and my car is still in the garage. i have written to vauxhalls to explain all this but they do not want to know and have still not replied to the letter i sent 6 weeks ago. no wonder vauxhalls are up the creek as their customer service is diabolical, i have now instructed my soilcitor to commence court proceedings.

has anyone else had similar prolems to this?

regards

I used to work for Vauxhall and have to say that usually they are very very good with warranty's. Sometime thought its the dealer not working hard enough for you to get the claim to go through. Ask the service manager for the latest phone number for Vauxhall customer services and the reference number and call them direct.

I have seen warranty's given out on vans which have been well abused.

thanks for the reply glenn.

i have spoken to the customer services department whom have not been very helpfull and cant even give me a cause for the bent con rod other than "its due to external sources" i have asked to speak to the engineer whom came to this decision and this request has been denied.
so its looks like i will have to go to court.
