2004 Vauxhall Vectra how do i open the boot if the pushbutton fails to operate it?

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 2004
Variant: 5d hatchback diesel
The boot is normally opened by pressing a button on the key or inside the car. For a few minutes the push button on the boot is operable (by a solenoid presumably)
I have long periods when the push button does not do this latter action but then at some stage will right itself.
This is an intermittent fault which probably would be solved by replacing the pushbutton/latch but how can I do this if I can't get to it?

You would need to break into it and force the lock.

Get into the boot via back seats in the centre of the tailgate at the bottom there's a plastic plug (size of 10pence) pop it out with screwdriver then put screwdriver in the slot and turn. :) Btw it's usually the button that goes.

Also check for corrosion at the button where the wiring plugs on to.
