2005 Vauxhall Vectra intermittent starting have no warning lights come on sometimes starts no problem then next time doesnt start can wait an hour then it starts again

my vectra has developed a starting problem sometimes it will start next time it wont can leave it for an hour then it will start again ,as soon as i put jump leads on to battery it starts within a second it even will start with just the negative lead on my battery and not hooked up to another battery i have no warning lights when it is running so its quite hard to figure the problem out once the car is running it doesnt cut out any advice please if it was a sensor would warning light not come on someone said it could be a bad earth but how do you find that out help

check your self to see if can see any wires or cables loose, melted or corroded etc. If you can't i would recommend to get an autospark to give it a look over. I had a wire trapped under v battery tray which split and caused a bad earth, which ended up costing me a new ecu and squibb.

You find a poor earth by taking one of your jump leads connecting it to the negative terminal of the battery and other end onto the engine at a good metal fixing or bolt.this will tell you if the engine earth to chassis is poor.obviously if vehicle starts.
