1998 Vauxhall Vectra wont start and when started it cuts out

hi there can anybody help i have vectra that had been standing when i brought it ive got it home drove fine then as i was cleaning it as runing it cut out and i went to start it again and it was like the battery was flat so i put my boost pack on and it started but if i take the booster of a few seconds later it idles up and down and cuts out please help thanks

i would say the alternator is faulty because you say it was running fine with the booster pack on it as you have given it more power so i would say you r alternator is working correctly ie not charging
