2005 Vauxhall Vectra car and spanner light is lit

This is the engine management light picking up a fault, If you take your car to a local garage they should be able to identify the fault code stored and reset the management system, This should only cost a few pounds as only a five min job

does it stay lit while driving or when you first start engine, as this could also mean it's telling you it's due a service. I've recently had a new ecu and my car & spanner pops up for litterally 10 secs or so when first started. I need to do a mini service on it then have it cleared.

I HAD THE SAME ON MY VECTRA SRI DTI. IN THE DRIVERS HANDBOOK IT SAYS ON Z1.9 DT & Z1.9DTH ENGINES CAN BE WATER IN FUEL FILTER. CHANGED IT. NOW OK.HOPE THIS AS HELPFUL.

you have 1 or more glow plugs blown a common fault with these not that easy to change unless you are confident as they do some times break of which causes a lot of problems ,get your self a good set like bosch they are quite reasnable on ebay asses each 1 first give them plenty of wd40 or even better do it with a warm engine (a bit rough on the skin though)then take your time trying to remove them loosen them a small amount at a time then retyten antill they are easy to turn they are located at the rear of enginebetweem head and manifold with a black cap and wire pushed on top.
