2002 Vauxhall Vectra battery light stays on and dials don't work at all !!!!!!

the car starts fine so far so good, but the battery light on the dash stays on while engine is running and the rev counter and speedo don't work either and the fuel level isn't reading.

try removing the clocks and checking the connections some times they become dry and cause problems try a little wd40

cheers mate, will try that tonite, but my mate is convinced that its the alternator that has gone can any varify or agree with this ???

Disconnect the earth lead from the battery, then reconnect after ten mins.
hey presto..... Should be ok!
