this problem started a while ago.if i put my temp on full heat and drive long distance warning light comes on so i have to pull over and turn engine off also can hear fan running for a bit when i do turn enguine off.took it to vauxhall garage and they did fault analysis.renewed the temp heater switch drove away and prob started again.returned to garage and they told me same fault was showing up again and they couldnt go anyfurther with fault as it wasnt letting them into system.they said it would be trial and error but more than likely was my engine control unit 800 pounds.would be greatfull if anyone can shed a light on this problem.

If the fan is kicking in , it must be running hot . Could check thermostat but could be partially blocked radiator .

well renewed themostat about 3 years ago but wouldnt that show up on diagnostic report and would i need to go to garage and get radiator flushed out thanks

I dont know how they could scan the car and see " the temp heater switch " was needing replaced and then when you go back with it unfixed and the same fault , they say " it wasnt letting them into system " . Was it the coolant temp sensor that was replaced ? A scan doesn't tell you if a thermostat was occasionally sticking and would only show if symptoms happened causing overheating .You could try flushing rad but if blocked might not do any good .

have bill infront of me and it says supply and fit thermostat as per wip 23181 10 65 thermo element
