2001 Vauxhall Vectra intermittent eml, loss of power, losing water

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 2001
Variant: 2.0 Di
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi

When engine starts EML illuminates and car has little power. Whilst driving EML will come on and go off intermitently and power is intermitent also.

Car will warm up and heaters will blow hot, however when car is stationery, the air through the vents rapidly cools and begins to blow cold.

Seems to be losing a good deal of water/coolant, although no visible leak under the car.

Also quite a lot of white smoke at start up but this clears quickly, then no sign of smoke whilst driving.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Could be head gasket , a block test will tell if that is cause .
