2007 Vauxhall Vectra air conditioning not working?

hello there,
when i switch the air conditioning on the little light on the button lights up but nothing happens ie no motor/fan starts up or any cold air?
my friend has the same car and his all works fan/motor and blows but no cold air he had it re gassed all good! i carnt understand why the motor wont blow/start up? the normal fan works fine, i have checked all fuses.
any ideas guys

make sure it has enough gas and all electrical work ,it needs good ground and power to compressor when is turned on
