I have a Vauxhall Tigra Exclusiv convertible 2008, petrol 1364cc

Yesterday the alarm randomly went off and then it had a whistling sound every couple of minutes then would go off. (it was raining yesterday) This has happened before and the battery was checked which was ok.

There had been a problem with the retractable roof, which would not open but then I managed to get it working. But, sometimes it is quite temperamental and I have to press hard on the switch for it to open.

Do you know what it may be?

These cars are notorious for roof problems . Hard to say with the noise but the roof buzzer relay is near the gear stick on the left side and if it sticks , gives off a noise . Could try cleaning the switch with electrical spray but may need replacing . If problem persists , you will need to get it checked for fault codes with suitable scanner .
