2005 Vauxhall Meriva knocking noise

I have a Meriva 1.6 2005
only done 36000 miles
but recently have been getting a knocking/clunking noise when i drive a very low speeds 5-10 mph,seems to be coming from the front and seems to stop at higher speeds
have had the drop links changed and garage found a split in cv boot so getting that done soon, but they not sure what is causing knocking (good hey)also no knocking when turning only when going in a straight line at low speeds also does not seems to affect the car just annoying any ideas ???

if a cv boot is split, get them to check to cv joint. would be worth checking as many potholes causing these types of problems.

does this happpen all the time or just when you go over bumps or uneven surface

i have a meriva (05 plate), whilst driving in 4th or 5th gear and the revs pass through 1200 to 1500, there is some kind of wattery, gargling,rattling noise coming from outside the car. I've had it in twice at a vauxhall dealer who say they can't find anything? But this happens every single time? Please can anyone help?

got the cv boot fixed and garage checked and found no probs with cv joint any more ideas??

Hi, I had a similar problem. It's the bolt on the steering column joint under the dash. Take off the plastic shroud under dash, tighten the bolt, reassemble. Voila! It worked for me, and costs half an hour of your time. Hope it helps.
