Opel Meriva. Code 55 + amber symbols on dashboard

2011 Vauxhall Meriva 1.3L CDTi

I have a code 55 and an amber filter(?) symbol displaying on dash. Mechanic said it was a sensor for a clogged particle filter and has cleaned filter & reset the fault. Keeps coming back after some hours/days .Recleaned filter a few times and eventually replaced this sensor. But after a day or so the caution code re-appears. Now ALSO the amber engine light is displaying and the car drives sluggishly. Anyone have similar issues and resolved it?

Thanks Whittingham! Apart from a blocked dpf I've just been reading about EGR systems that may be a factor if they're coking up. Is this a also a possibility??

EGR valve problems can also cause it to lose power and go into limp mode like you are experiencing .
