2012 Vauxhall Meriva brakes kicking in at low speed

Car: Vauxhall Meriva
Year: 2012
Variant: 1.4
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & TyresElectrics, ECU, Warnings & LightsRunning Rough, Starting & Power Loss
when pulling off from the car standing for some time around 10mph in first it feels as if the brakes are engaging and making a grinding noise even though I am not touching the brake pedal. only last for a few seconds and the traction control lights come up on the dash. only ever seems to happen after the car has been stood still and switched off

Sounds like the abs modulator is kicking in either due to a faulty sensor or sticking valve in the modulator itself, It would require a check for any codes which could guide diagnostics or a read of actual data when the faults actually occurring.

Would that still be the case even though none of the abs lights come up on the dash? Also after the locking up happens there are no problems when driving after and the brakes all work perfectly fine

Check condition of brake discs and pads and make sure they are not binding, or corroded i would also check abs rings for damage /corrosion this would effect abs sensor operation maybe a strip and clean of front brakes will sort your problem.

Got new disks and brakes for the front end coming tomorrow. Will strip it all down and check the rings there. I believe the disk may be warped as when turning the wheel whilst the car is jacked up there is a certain spot where it is not as free to turn the wheel
