After having a new battery fitted the info. panel (CD-400) is not working - blank with occasional flashes of hieroglyphics. Also no sound from anything including indicators, seat belt alarm, etc.

I took my Meriva to a Vauxhall dealership after same problem. It turned out I needed a new radio, the original one was draining the battery. Problem was resolved with the new radio but at a cost....nor far short of £900!

Thanks for that reply. I can get a secondhand replacement control panel/radio/cd and screen as a package on eBay but wonder if I would only need the control panel? Seems strange that the radio itself would be the cause of the problem?

My car has got the same problem. The dealer says that the radio should be changed and it costs £690 and I have already paid £207 for diagnosis. The dealer had a first diagnostic check for £75 and said they could not find the fault and need 2 hours extra labor work. 1. If this problem has happened for other people before, Vauxhall has logged this problem and the solution, why they have asked for extra hours? Is that a fraud? So now I am in doubt if really this change is required.
How did you solve the problem?
