Hot start problem

Hi all, my meriva ha a hot start issue. It starts fine from cold but once up to temperature if you turn off the engine and try and start it again it just turns over and over never starting. Once cold again it will start. Also the dash stops working speedo, rev counter and temp gauge. Any help greatly received, before I spend money on petrol and matches (joking) thanks in advance, Barrie
