Spanner Light on, goes off when engine restarts once warm

2008 Vauxhall Meriva 1.7CDTi
Car: Vauxhall Meriva
Year: 2008
Variant: 1.7CDTi
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Spanner light on dash stays on. After 10-15 minutes once engine warm if I stop at a shop e.g. then restart the car, the light goes off and stays off. If I stop and restart when cold light comes on and stays on. Car running fine. Garage ran diagnostics with fault light on - no codes came up. When idling and engine revved, the engine was 'hunting' (garage speak)
Manual says transmission electronics or diesel fuel filter but no codes so no nearer an answer. Colleagues at work said its service light but its just been serviced. Any help appreciated.

IF it's the service light , try this .

How to you reset the service light on a Vauxhall Meriva?

Answer(s)

This usually works! 1. Press in the trip reset milometer button on the cars dash facia and hold it in, do not release. 2. With your other hand insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the power on position, do not fire-up the ignition/engine. 3. Keep the trip reset button depressed whilst the power is on. Dash may countdown from 10 to zero and then reset. Takes about 10-20 seconds total

If not that may need fault codes read with tech 2 .

Thanks
Did the reset, it didn't count down just went blank after 10 seconds, waited a bit then let go. No change, light still on.
Only other issue I've noticed is when unlocking the car on 3 or 4 occasions both indicator lights have been flashing in the car as though the immobiliser has kicked in. (all since the light has been on) Used both keys so not battery in key fob. Locked and unlocked and its ok. Manual refers to immobiliser if the spanner light flashes after ignition is switched on. It doesn't do that.
What's Tech 2 - is that a diagnostic technique?
Thanks for help

Your car should show " INSP " which is the service reminder, / light when due . Spanner light means a fault , engine malfunction light .Tech 2 /3 ,MDI (Multi Diagnostics Interface) is the genuine Vauxhall / Opel dealer diagnostics interface, which when combined with Global TIS, GDS 2, Tech2Win software, and a new laptop, provides full dealer level diagnostics and programming for all Vauxhall /Opel 16 pin vehicles from 1996 to present day.
