2006 Vauxhall Meriva cant make alarm to work

hi I just bought Vauxhall Meriva 1.6i 16V Life 5dr Easytronic 2006 .I cant make alarm to work .it does dead lock door after pressing 2 times on remote . but if i try to shake car or little knock but alarm does not set off . I am not sure if this car has alarm or not . please if you can help me to make this alarm work for me . thanks

Checked the manual for settings on alarm in case set on off position ?This from manual ,
Act ivat ion without monitoring of
passenger compartment or vehicle tilt
E.g., if anim als a re to be left in the vehicle.
1. Close luggage compartment and
bonnet.
2. Press button in front of the courtesy light
(with ignition off); LED in the hazard
warning light button flashes for a
maximum of 10 seconds.
3. Close doors.
4. Switch on anti-theft alarm system. LED
illuminates. After approx. 10 seconds,
the anti-theft alarm system is activated
without monitoring of the passenger
compartment or vehicle tilt. The LED
flashes until the system is switched off.
