2004 Vauxhall Meriva loss of acceleration when slowing at junctions/starting

Car: Vauxhall Meriva
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.7cdti vix meriva life
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
taking several goes to start, then when it does it has no acceleration. When running if we slow down to a stop eg. traffic lights, the acceleration just goes for several mins. We just have to sit there until revs come back on , It's rather embaressing. been to garage so far they have done a full diagnostics and changed the fuel filter. to no avail. test showed nothing is up with the car????????asked to take in when it happens, but we dont know when it will happen, so we are in a no winn situation.

check the accellerator cable, change the spark plugs

well there is no spark plugs in a diesel as prob suggested this may be one of those problems that will not be solved antill it fails totally second geussing could cost you a lot of time and money you could try stripping and cleaning the egr valve and throttle body these can become clogged with carbon deposits alternativeley you could be looking at the throttle pedal which is called (fly by wire) its an electronic sensor on the throttle pedal that controlls the engine revs
