2001 Vauxhall Corsa boot does not open with key

Had problems with rear wash/wiper. blew fuse, replaced fuse then clicking noise heard when using remote for central locking. Boot will not open at all, even using the key! could it be the solenoid? Help!!

Could be .Pull inside trim off and check .Could also check for broken wiring where it passes through into tailgate .

When you worked on the tailgate when it was open, could there have been any tools - even a small screwdriver - left on the rubber at the bottom where it closes, or maybe part of the interior carpet jammed in the gap. Either or both will make the tailgate so tight that the solenoid or key won't move the lock. The only way to check has to be over the seat, take out the parcel shelf to gain access to the inside.
If it is, get someone to push down on the tailgate really hard when you try and open it! Logic of this one? My Son did just this! And yes, we did get it open....
