Engine idles eratic

after driving to the coast my engine warning light came on, after parking up the revs go from 1000rpm to 4000rpm then down again it does this like a yo yo and now will not stop. i will say the problem starts after approx 5mins of warming up ie 60 degrees...... HELP i am at my witts end.....

I believe the best thing is to have it scanned to see if there any trouble codes. This could be the idling valve/servo or the throtle position sensor-might not be damaged may just be a matter of calibration with the right scan tool. Like I saif before the best thing is to have it scanned otherwise its just guess work-which is as expensive as it is frustrating. Hope this helps

Clean or replace idle air control valve and also clean throttle body .

i had the same make engine etc of car n had the same problem.funnily enough i took it to a garage n all they did was change the battery n this fixed it for good.
