2006 Vauxhall Corsa left indicator switch not working

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.2
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Hi my left indicator does not cancel after completing a left turn. The right one does. I have changed the switch and again the left indicator does not turn off. The right one does.
I have manage to look into the steering column through the cap left after taking out the switch and can see a metal half ring connected to the column which I assume connects with the switch to cancel it on the steering wheel returning to the straight position. It doesn't look damaged and I can't understand why it should turn the right indicator off but not the left.

Can anyone help please?
