2006 Vauxhall Corsa engine knocking - sounds like a deisel

Hello
I'm ok when it comes to cars but not full clued up!...So this might seem like a blonde question.
My car has recently started making a knocking noise, its definatly coming from the engine. It only seems to do it when im in lower gears (1-2) and more so when Im waiting at lights or doing clutch control.
Any clues??

Hello,
There are a few things this could be but the first one to check is the exhaust I reckon. Try moving the exhaust by hand (when it's cold) and see if you can replicate the noise.
You could take it to your local tyre dealer and get them to put it on the ramp and check underneath.
Could just be the exhaust is badly fitted or missing a rubber mounting (very cheap).

Common fault on that car is timing chain rattle / hydraulic tappets / camshafts .

It's only done 50,000 miles an since its been MOT'd its only done about 2,500.
I change the oil regular and always keep an eye on fluid's (Brake, Power Steering).
Ill take a look at exhaust.
This car never moves...I only use it on weekends and then I don't go far. I bet it only goes over 50 around once a month!
A lot of other websites are saying that 1.0L have a few issues. How much more of this fun have I got to look forward to? lol

I'm assuming it's a 3 cylinder engine, they do sound a bit diesely at the best of times... perhaps get a mechanic to have a listen?
