1992 Vauxhall Corsa not starting.

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 1992
Variant: LS 1.4
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Driving home from work noticed oil light flickered on and off a few times. After getting home checked oil level and topped up. Started the car which seemed fine after about 10 mintues of ticking over the car stopped and wouldn't start. Fuel level was low. Managed to put some fuel in but still not starting. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly apperciated. Thanks.

It sounds to me like a petrol filter problem. Any crap in the tank could have made its way to clog the filter as the tank ran dry. check that you are getting fuel delivered to the engine by taking off the fuel pipe near the engine and turning the car over.If no fuel pumps out you have a blockage. If it does the next thing to check is spark plug operation. ligs

You say you " Managed to put some fuel in " how much ? If a gallon or less , might not be enough for the pump to lift / prime .
