1999 Vauxhall Corsa erg valve...and is the car a chain or belt cam

just like some advice..just bought a car corsa 1.4 16v vreg 1999 5dr..erg valve is that a big problem and is the car a chain or belt cam

Hi, if if it is the mark 1 shape corsa (K reg - V reg)1.4 16v then it will be a cambelt - I know because I had one and the belt snapped!

I'm not sure about the newer model but I would expect a belt. You can usually tell by looking at the side of the engine - the cambelt (if there is one) will be inside a black plastic cover.

If not take the oil filler cap off and look in the top of the engine - you might be able to see the chain at the end of the camshaft.

Re .EGR valve , you can fit a blanking plate if you want . This explains ,

I remove the EGR valve on my Vivaro, soak it in full fat Coca Cola, then clean off with brake cleaner and put it back on. Works for me and the best use for teeth and gut rotting coke that I hsve ever found.
