2005 Vauxhall Corsa control indicator for engine eletronics light on dashboard

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 2005
Variant: 1.0 Life
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hadn't driven my car for about a week and its been very cold. Yesterday tried to start, no joy so got jump leads and tried that way. It started but then the control indicator for engine electronics light came on the dashboard. Reading throught the manual it says it has switched to emergency running program. Also can't get battery out of the compartment its in, possibly a stupid design fault. Can anybody help?
