1999 Vauxhall Corsa at idle

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 1999
Variant: 1.0 12v
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have a 1.0 12v Corsa. It has had many problems recently including not starting, and wiring faults. Now it has started running again, the tick over speed varies from 1000 to 1500 rpm without touching the accelerator. What is the cause of this and how can it be sorted?
Thanks.

hi,poss air leak, when the other problems were being sorted its poss an air or vacum hose became detatched from something and the engine is sucking in unmetered air.

Check this out ,

Re: corsa erratic idling
It might be your idle control motor, the stepper motor on the side of the throttle body.
Get gararge to put a tech 2 on and see if you've got any fault codes.

Re: corsa erratic idling
On the x10xe/x12xe engines the idle control motor is actually an ecu
controlled stepper motor rather than an idle control valve as on some other
engines so you can't clean it, it's a sealed bosch unit that you can't open
up. If you get the garage to put a tech 2 on it should show something
like "low voltage from idle control motor". If, of course, that's what the
problem is - I was just guessing, but it is a common problem with these
engines.

is it a corsa c? cos these dont hav idle air control valves as they hav electronic throttle controls which positions the flap to open when idlinig, u tried cleaning the throttle body out and the breather pipes? thats where id start

Hope this helps
