Variant: 1.3 ctdi diesel
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
there is an orange light of a car with a wrench through it that comes on about 2 mins into every journey and stays on untill i switch the egnition off again. I've looked in the handbook and it says it means transmition fault but everything feels fine. Any ideas? it must be coming on for a reason

Are you sure it's not the engine management light ?

Don't want to disagree with owners handbook , I'm probably wrong , but these are other Corsa owners with same light coming on .

Warning Light Help
Hi I've got an opel corsa cdti 1.3 from Malta and recently (last Saturday) whilst drving the orange warning light (car with spanner came on). Car only has 40000 miles. I did not notice any difference in power being delivered nor any hesitation. Then after 5 minutes this turned off again. Car had just been refuelled on Friday.

Took a quick look at the owners handbook and apart from check of engine electronics, the diesel filter is also mentioned. Removed the filter and opened the drain to remove any dirt or water. The diesel removed was very clean and had no traces of water on contamination.

However this is coming on frequently now since last friday and is not turning off again after some time. have to stop and restart engine to turn off.

Now I have also noticed that before, whilst the ignition is on before starting the engine the warning light car with spanner used to go off after a few seconds whilst now this is turning off after the engine is running, like the oil pressure, alternator light etc.

Tried the pedal test as explained here by pressing the brake and accelerator pedal right down to the floor, before inserting the key and turning to the ignition and waiting for a few seconds until the waring light flashes but did not manage to get and light flashing, to be able to determine any fault but did not succeed

Any help or suggestions please?

Thanks in advance.

On my Corsa, a light comes up with what looks like a car with a spanner through it. Not listed in my manual so what is it?

Thomreplied to RichardNov 23, 2009 at 02:12 PM Engine maintenance light. Means there may be a fault on your car. You can find the fault code.

Get your car keys and some paper and a pen. If you aint got a good memory.

When you get into the car you know the key has 3 clicks? Basically until your after the second click when the diagnostic lights comes on.

Press the brake and accelerator pedal, and then turn key to the second click.

Keep the pedals depressed and wait for the diagnostic light to begin to flash.

It will display four numbers, with a gap of two seconds in between each number. The number of flashes represents each number, in between the 2
second gap.
1 flash = 1
2 flashes = 2
ect.
Zero is 10 flashes

for exampleP0110
The light will flash 10 times. Have a 2 second gap. Then once. 2 second gap. Once again. Then ten

If you have more than one code it will stop for a break, then gives the next code.

This also works for the Astra. This works on a Corsa C, and im presuming it'll work on yours, even if it is a Corsa B.

However if you don’t have any code stored it will start flashing and keeps on flashing until you release the paddles.
