1999 Vauxhall Corsa wont start

The car starts some times but when you leave it for a day or two it wont start, the battery is ok it turns and turns.you can smell the petrol even when i got it going.

You don't say what engine . Anyway lots of possible causes but could try ECT (engine coolant temp ) sensor .
