2002 Vauxhall Corsa ticking noise from engine/ flat spot

my girlfriends corsa(1.2) engine seems to have a rather loud ticking noise from the engine(like fuel injector clicking but noisier), the noise started a couple of weeks ago. A full service was carried out with vauxhall parts and all filters/oil replaced. Noise is still apparent. The engine has developed a flatspot around 2000rpm as well, this only happened after doing a throttle body decoke, strange thing is that i disconnected battery and the flat spot appears to have gone away for the moment?? Any help with the loud ticking noise greatly appreciated as it is very annoying! thanks.

have you got a short,an electricl ark,that is jumping to earth some were?that sounds like a loud tick,that would cause a flat spot(pinking is fuel,and timing)its not a knock,so it could be electricl.??? sorry cant be of more help,
