2001 Vauxhall Corsa engine rev counter not working

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.2 club
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
After the engine cutting out, the engine rev counter stopped working and the engine sign on the dashboard has come on and won't go off as it should when the engine has started. I have checked the manual but there is no mention of any censor or reason for the problem, can any one help.
