2003 Vauxhall Corsa loud clacking when engine is running, sounds like a diesel.

when i start my car it sounds just like a diesel, but is a petrol. i have tried putting thicker oil in but it hasnt worked, when i have approached an x-mechanic he has said that it sounds like it may have something to do with the [b]camshaft[/b], but now i have noticed that my [b]electrics have started to flicker[/b] and my [b]battery dies without being used[/b] [b]my oil, battery and maintenance warning lights[/b]come on as soon as i start the car. please help if you have experience or know what is wrong. thanks.

You need to get car checked out asap . Known fault with timing chain and camshafts . See here
