Car still runs !!!???

When you park the car & turn the ignition to the off position , the car still runs when you take the key out & you have to stall the car to stop it & then dissconnect the battery to avoid any further issues.Any Ideas ????

Just to let you know , we took it to our local garage & it was something to do with the relay from the alternator.Thank you
